About Prime

What makes Prime Independent Living different from other senior living options?

For many families, the biggest surprise is the price. Prime Independent Living is often more affordable than assisted living, and for people who can coordinate their own care, it’s simply a better fit. All-inclusive rates start at $3,395 a month, depending on the community and floor plan, and that one rate covers your apartment, three made-from-scratch meals a day, bi-weekly housekeeping, scheduled transportation, utilities, and all amenities. There are no long-term contracts or large entrance fees, and no stack of bills from different services. Prime has three communities: Prime Carolina Coast in Conway, South Carolina; Prime Gastonia in Gastonia, North Carolina; and Prime West Knoxville in Knoxville, Tennessee. Once families see everything that one monthly rate includes, the decision tends to get a lot easier.

Independent living is designed for people who can coordinate their own care. If your parent handles their own health needs and daily decisions but is ready to hand off the house, the cooking, and the yard work and repairs, Prime was built for exactly that stage of life. Some of our residents came to Prime straight from assisted living because it turned out to be a better fit. Independent living doesn’t include medical care or personal assistance, but if extra support ever makes sense, residents can bring in services like home care, physical therapy, and pharmacy services through Prime’s preferred partners, right in their apartment. Visiting physician services are available too. The easiest way to know for sure is to tour a community and talk with a local advisor about what your parent needs.

Amenities & Services

What amenities are included at Prime Independent Living?

Every Prime community has the same core amenities: a fitness center with fitness classes, a hydrotherapy pool with an aquatic treadmill, an 18-hole putting green, a pickleball court, a billiards room, a theater room, a library and computer lounge, a coffee and ice cream café, a courtyard fire pit, an outdoor dining patio, and a Bark Park for residents’ pets. There’s also a hair and nail salon, 24/7 concierge services, computer classes, religious services, and a full calendar of games and special events. Some communities add extras too, like the greenhouse and shuffleboard room at Prime West Knoxville. The amenities residents talk about most, though, are the ones that take work off their plate: bi-weekly housekeeping, all utilities, scheduled transportation, and three restaurant-style meals a day, all in one monthly rate. Every apartment also has its own washer and dryer, so laundry happens on your schedule.

Yes. Scheduled transportation is included in the monthly rate at every Prime community. Residents have regular rides to medical appointments, grocery shopping, errands, and outings, so getting where they need to go doesn’t depend on driving or on a family member’s schedule. For many residents, and for their adult children, that’s one of the first real weights off their shoulders.

Dining was a founding principle at Prime, and for many residents it’s the reason they decide to move in. Three made-from-scratch meals are served every day in a restaurant-style dining room during flexible hours. Fresh fruits and vegetables are always on the menu, along with daily and weekly specials, themed meals, and seasonal dishes. Menus are planned by each community’s Executive Chef with Rory Watts, Prime’s Corporate Director of Culinary, and owner Debra Haywood, a registered dietitian. Because meals are made fresh, the kitchen can often accommodate personal preferences and dietary needs. Residents can eat in the dining room or on the outdoor patio, pick up a meal to go, have meals delivered to their apartment for a small fee, or cook in their own full kitchen. The coffee and ice cream café is open 24 hours a day, and family and friends are always welcome to join for a meal.

At Prime Independent Living, yes. Bi-weekly housekeeping is included in the all-inclusive monthly rate at every community, so residents don’t have to worry about scrubbing bathrooms or keeping up with cleaning that gets harder over time. Every apartment also has its own washer and dryer, so laundry stays easy and private.

Pricing & Monthly Costs

What household expenses and maintenance does Prime take care of?

Prime brings the biggest household costs together in one monthly bill: rent, meals, bi-weekly housekeeping, all utilities, Wi-Fi, and cable TV. Residents still manage their own personal finances, but there are no separate accounts and due dates to keep track of for the basics of running a home. Upkeep is covered too. With maintenance-free living and professional maintenance support at every community, there’s no lawn to mow, no gutters to clean, and no contractors to call. That also means no worrying about being overcharged for a repair you didn’t fully understand.

Prime Independent Living makes monthly expenses simple by bringing so much into one monthly rate. Your apartment, utilities, fresh-made meals daily, bi-weekly housekeeping, transportation options, activities, events, and access to community amenities are all included. Plus, there are no long-term contracts or large entrance fees, making it easier to understand and plan for your monthly living expenses.
